About the Civic Pioneers Institute
The Mission of the Civic Pioneers Institute is to enrich the North State region through community involvement, education and collaboration.
Through our programs, we work to ensure that our communities compose a pioneering region with an outstanding quality of life; a place of great natural beauty with respect for the environment and vital communities, entrepreneurial people and world-class business.
The Civic Pioneers Institute encourages cooperation, fosters open discussion and facilitates quarterly public forums on a wide range of issues. The work of the Institute is non-partisan, and we do not seek to set policy. Rather, we are a volunteer group rich in diversity of backgrounds, professions, interests and communities. We seek to provide a neutral environment where Fellows can enhance their personal or organizational civic engagement, gather and share information and resources, create discourse and critically review the issues we face as a region within the scope of:
- Regional Stewardship
- Community Vitality
- Economic Prosperity
- Educational Excellence
- and Environmental Quality.
Increasing professional and organizational competence is essential to developing sustainable civic engagement. Therefore, the current main focus of the Civic Pioneers Institute is its leadership training program— providing community members with skill development and connectivity throughout an intensive 12-month study. Monthly day sessions consist of stimulating lectures and participatory skills workshops. Each lecture session includes an opportunity to discuss timely issues with elected officials, policy-makers, business executives, community leaders, and stakeholders in regional issues. Awareness, access and action make up the foundation of the Civic Pioneers Institute Leadership Program. Upon completion of the program, participants become lifelong “Fellows” of the Institute and move forward with skills for greater effectiveness within their professions and communities.
